Responding to a Freedom of Information request, the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport told the Telegraph that it is launching a new website to display the 14,283 artworks owned by the state since the collection… The move follows a public outcry after it emerged thousands of gems including Canaletto’s view of London, Turner’s Teignmouth, Hogarth’s “Noon” and portraits by Sir Joshua Reynolds and Sir Peter Paul Rubens were among 2,778 artworks in the Government Art Collection (GAC) that have not been displayed in the past five years.
