Men on bike snatch mobile of Solicitor Generals wife

first_imgNew Delhi: Two bike-borne miscreants snatched the mobile phone of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta’s wife near Mandi House in the heart of the national capital, police said on Monday.According to investigating agency, they have registered a case and the investigation is going from all angles. According to police, the victim, identified as Aparna Mehta, was going for a walk when the accused targeted her on Sunday. “I was going for a walk on the evening of August 18 near Mandi House circle in front of FICCI (Tansen Marg), two miscreant on a motorbike snatched phone from my hands,” the victim told police in her complaint. The miscreants were on an unknown motorbike and she cannot identify them nor the bike. The snatched phone has two sim cards. Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Eish Singhal told Millennium Post that they have registered a case and investigation is going on. So far no accused was arrested. According to investigators, they are scanning the CCTV footages of the areas to get clues regarding the incident. They are also trying to find possible entry and escape routes taken by the snatchers. Also, the investigators are scanning crime dossier to identify the suspects. According to Delhi Police annual report of 2018, last year, as many as 6,642 cases of snatching were reported as compared to 8,070 cases in the year 2017. “3785 (56.98 percent) cases were solved with the arrest of 5326 persons. 96.66 percent of the total arrested criminals were first-time offenders and 54.90 percent of them were illiterates or school drop-outs,” annual report reads. Sources claimed that in the city there are as many as 315 snatchers who are currently active whereas 171 snatchers were silent as the law enforcement agency has not found any activity from their (snatchers) side.last_img read more
